How to plan a week of meals and build a grocery list

A Sunday-afternoon walkthrough with one sample week.

Planning dinner and buying groceries are easier as one job. This guide walks through a single week: what is at home, what you will cook, what you need to buy and what actually came home.

1. Check what is at home

Open your pantry and kitchen inventory first. Seeing what you already have makes it easier to pick meals that use it. In the sample week, the pantry already holds rice, lentils, pasta, canned tomatoes, shredded cheese and tortillas.

2. Plan the week

Add the meals you want to cook to your meal plan. You can add meals yourself with the regular controls, or ask the assistant for recipe ideas. Recipes you already use can be added from a link, pasted text or a photo, then reviewed before saving.

3. Build the shopping list

Review the ingredients for your planned meals, check what your pantry covers and add the missing items to your shopping list. In the sample, that is six items: chicken thighs, onions, bread, spinach, lemons and salmon. Pantry staples stay off the list. You can add anything else yourself, and it is worth checking drafted ingredients before relying on them.

4. Review what came home

Snap the receipt after you shop. Check the extracted items and prices, fix anything that needs it, and your purchases and food spending stay in one place instead of being pieced together later.

Common questions

Do I have to use the AI assistant?

No. The regular controls handle meals, groceries, prices, budget and kitchen items. The assistant is there if you would rather ask in a chat.

Can I bring recipes from another app?

You can add individual recipes from a link, pasted text or a photo, then review the details. A direct transfer of another app's account or meal plans has not been verified.

Is there a phone app?

The web app works on your phone today and can be added to your home screen. Android and iOS apps are coming soon.
